Hello, I’m Dexter, and I want to share my journey of navigating the Japanese job market and achieving a rewarding career. After graduating with a degree from the Graduate School of Management at Globish University, I was eager to make my mark in Japan's competitive business environment. Despite not being fluent in Japanese, I was determined to find a role that matched my skills and ambitions. 

My job-hunting journey was far from easy. I submitted over 100 applications, facing numerous rejections along the way. However, I knew that perseverance and a strategic approach were key. I landed a mid-career Project Manager position at Yokogawa Company in June 2023, a testament to the power of resilience and proactive networking. Throughout this process, I focused on demonstrating my value and building relationships within the industry. Networking became my cornerstone; attending events and connecting with professionals on LinkedIn helped me gain insights and opportunities that were not readily available through traditional job listings. 

What truly set me apart in the competitive environment was my positive attitude and willingness to learn. I approached each challenge with a smile, which endeared me to colleagues and potential employers alike. Embracing the Japanese work culture, I prioritized continuous improvement and adaptability. My advice to job seekers is to prioritize language learning, as it significantly enhances your ability to integrate and communicate effectively in the workplace. Show confidence in your abilities, expand your network through proactive engagement, and always approach challenges with a positive mindset. 

Reflecting on my journey, I realize that the combination of strategic networking, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn can overcome even the most daunting obstacles. My experience at Yokogawa has been incredibly rewarding, and I continue to grow both professionally and personally.
